KJ's Learn 2 Play Hockey
(scroll down for registration link)
KJ's Learn 2 Play Hockey Program is a great opportunity for anyone eager to develop their hockey skills. This class will help players improve their skating skills, stick handling, shooting, passing, technique, and build the confidence needed to thrive on the ice and in a league. This class is for ages 6-18, and combines the fundamentals of skating with essential hockey techniques in a supportive and fun environment taught by experience hockey players!
This class is essential before participating in a youth hockey league, and strongly encouraged after joining the league for all players who want to improve their skills!
Before taking this class, players should already have foundational skating skills, which are taught in levels 1 & 2 of the Learn to Skate program. This includes: forward and backwards skating, forward and backwards C-cuts, hockey stop, and 1-foot push and glides, etc. If the skater does not yet have these skills, please start with Learn to Skate.
Full Hockey Gear is required for participation in this program. You must either purchase or rent your own gear, it is not supplied by the rink. Contact Dallin Staheli: youthhockey@kjsicebarn.org for questions about gear rental.
CLASS DETAILS
Led by experienced coaches, the program enables participants to build confidence and proficiency. Each session is designed with engaging activities and drills to make learning fun. Players are encouraged to improve at their own pace while being cheered on by a supportive community of coaches and peers.
The program also emphasizes safety, equipping participants with proper techniques to reduce the risk of injuries. Players are taught how to wear their gear and understand how to use it for both protection and performance.
Players will be taught in small groups so that they can receive all the help they need to develop their hockey skills and become better players!
