Figure Skating
At KJ's Ice Barn, we are building a new figure skating program from the ground up. We hope to provide a space where all feel welcome and can enjoy the freedom of expression through movement that figure skating offers. See the profiles and contact information of current private coaches* teaching at our rink at the the bottom of this page.
*If you have a background in figure skating, choreography, dance, or theatre and would like to help us build our program as a volunteer or coach, please email Ashley Haderlie at skatingprograms@kjsicebarn.org.
Performance Opportunities
- Competitions - Any skater with a Learn to Skate USA membership is able to sign up for beginning level skating competitions anywhere in the United States! These friendly competitions are a lot of fun and a great way to work towards skating goals. Work with a skating coach to help you prepare and choregraph a program with all the required competition elements. (Advanced level competitions are also available nationwide for all ages with a U.S. Figure Skating membership.)
- Ice Skating Shows - We plan to host three ice shows each year at KJ's Ice Barn! These shows are a great opportunity for skaters to perform for their friends and family and showcase the skills they have been working on in a fun and relaxed environment. Performances can be either in small groups or as solos, and skaters will be able to choose their own family-friendly music and costumes. Music should be cut to about 1-1:30 in length, except for advanced skaters who are testing/competing, which may have a length of about 2-2:30.
Available Shows:
- Winter show (January)
- Spring show (April)
- Fall show (October)
