About Us
In association with the directors of Iron Ice, Inc., we are proud to bring KJ's Ice Barn to Southern Utah. Located in Enoch, Utah, and established in 2022. Our vision is to grow and foster an environment for all to enjoy. Whether that be as a part of the many hockey or figure skating programs, parties, batting cages, pickleball courts, gym, and so much more. This new facility has been a dream for our community, staff, and members who have worked tirelessly for over a decade to bring about this project we are so passionate about.
Our History
While established in 2022, our history stretches back more than 12 years of operating and overseeing ice rinks and programs. Starting in St. George, with the Dixie Igloo, where a youth following began behind our mission. This community has sprouted up wherever it was thrown, from a farm, and to assisting with the creation of YETI (Youth and Enthusiasts Together for Ice). It took two years of events, fundraising every weekend, over 3,500 petition signatures, and hundreds of volunteer hours to get the assistance needed to create these programs.
A semi-permanent ice rink was constructed at the Cedar City Aquatic Center. It became a community with over 150 youth hockey players, two adult leagues, and full high school varsity and junior varsity teams. From these humble beginnings, the high school team played in the state championship in 2018. We have alumni that have gone on to play in youth national championships, collegiately, and for junior teams.
The facility at the aquatic center was eventually dismantled, but the community stayed. We came together again to create a natural freeze rink at Woods Ranch. Despite harsh weather and the drive, people stayed dedicated to the ice rink. After the season at Woods Ranch, we are finally able to create KJ’s Ice Barn and receive funding for a brand new facility for this community to continue to evolve and grow. We look forward to seeing you join us at KJ's Ice Barn soon!
Meet the Board
Remembering Kerry Fain
In January, we lost the great driving force in bringing KJ's Ice Barn to Southern Utah. Kerry spent many years involved in the Utah hockey community. In 2011, she founded the non-profit group, Youth Enthusiasts Together for Ice (Y.E.T.I.), where she became a mother figure to countless youth and friends with many within her community. Kerry was an unmatched supporter and advocate of Utah girl's hockey, especially the Lady Grizzlies organization. She served on many boards within Utah Hockey including, High School Hockey Board Southern Utah Trustee, Hockey Disciplinary Board Member, Eligibility Board Member, and Iron Ice, Inc. Secretary.
Kerry was the president of the Southern Utah Yeti, the organization that runs and facilitates the local youth ice sports throughout Southern Utah. She also volunteered her time as a coach, a level 4 USA Hockey certified and Silver Goaltending, and Team Manager and Trustee for the local Southern Utah Independent high school hockey team. Most of her time outside of work was spent with her family, on ice with the youth, traveling for her children's hockey events, or with the teams in the Y.E.T.I organization. She was fortunate enough to volunteer as a manager for our local rinks and oversaw day-to-day operations since 2009. In 2022, Kerry's hard work paid off and her dream of a year-round ice rink facility in Southern Utah, KJ's Ice Barn, came to fruition. Kerry will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and the hockey community. Her memory will live on with everyone who will enjoy KJ's Ice Barn.
